pirate treasure map
Inspired by a course I took, the genius Annie Atkins's "Graphic Design for Filmmaking", I created a series of graphic props/paraphernalia for a fictional character, William Turner. He is a character in the Pirates of The Caribbean films (which I love dearly) that take place in the early 1700s.
Below you see a treasure map that I designed, aged, and hand-inked. In my imagining of Will's character story we don't see on screen, he bartered this map off of another pirate, who bought it from someone else, who knew someone, who knew something about the Elixir Vitae (Potion of Life). Notoriously difficult to find, this map luckily shows the way to find this magical Elixir.
The problem is, when they finally found “X marks the spot”, there were not one, but three bottles. The drawing of the right magical bottle has been conveniently ripped from the map, leaving the pirates questioning which bottle will save them, and what will happen to them if they drink from the other two. What do you think they contain?
